ZKTeco

are probably best known for their Biometric Terminals and have been in the business for many years now. ZKTeco terminals all use a common communication protocol which means no matter what mix of devices you select, a single application can manage them all. ZKTeco have their own software solutions for Time and Attendance and Access Control but we've developed our own server software that runs on Microsoft Windows (7 or later) and allows third party integration with the terminals. 

Our ZKATW Software Solution manages terminals and stores biometric data in a Microsoft SQL Server Database. This database is open to third party developers to integrate their solutions with ZKTeco devices without having to write all the management code. The software which runs on the console provides varying levels of diagnostics to allow easy identification of issues as well as payload logging to diagnose commands that are being rejected. Once started the system will run until its terminated or it can be programmed to terminate at a specific date/time which allows a batch file to reload it with different parameters etc. The code is fluid and constantly being updated and enhanced and we're always open to bespoke variants if customers require it. 

The database consists of three main tables. 

BioReaders

Defines the Serial Numbers, descriptive Name and status of ZKTeco Biometric Readers. The system can support any number of readers but a realistic maximum per server would be 32 after which another server could be used to load share. 

BioCmd

Contains a list of commands sent to the terminals together with timestamp requested, timestamp processed and return codes. Inserting records into this table allows commands to be sent to one or more terminals to perform tasks such as reboot, upload biometric data, remove biometric data and so on. 

BioTime

This table holds timestamp data for each user storing the date/time of each scan. Triggers on this table can be used to, for example, provide third party access to systems (two factor) or automation such as turn on lights etc. 

Stored Proceedures

There are a number of SP's to simplify the adding of commands, scans, reboot's etc.
